This is one of the most elegant pieces Hallmark ever produced. The Della Robia border is highly detailed. With Madonna and Child in the center.

Captioned on the back: “Gentle, the mother; Peaceful, the child; Symbol of hope in a world reconciled.

This was a direct mail order only, through the Wall Street Journal. The edition size was 7,500, but only 1,532 (due to the high retail price) were actually ordered AND production problems allowed only 133 to be produced. This pewter plate is much larger than the plates offered in the Little Gallery Line. It’s a little more than 8″ in diameter. The Little Gallery Plates are a little less than 6″ in diameter. This plate was extremely expensive and difficult to produce due to the cost of pewter itself. The size of the plate also caused warping problems. The factory cut the production short. Making a total of 133 of them. This is a very rare find!
